MINUTES OF ORONO COUNCIL MEETING HELD MARCH 12, 1990 <br />BID AWARD STREET SWEEPER CONTINUED <br />Councilmember Callahan asked whether it will be necessary to <br />employ an extra person to operate the sweeper? <br />Gerhardson replied that will not be necessary. <br />Mayor Grabek asked Councilmember Peterson if she wished to <br />set a specific dollar amount for expenditures that can and cannot <br />be placed on the Consent Agenda? <br />Grabek noted that budgeted items that are placed on the <br />Consent Agenda may be removed and discussed if Council feels it <br />is necessary. <br />Gerhardson suggested that items requiring sealed bids not be <br />allowed on the consent agenda. He said that would not allow <br />anything over $15,000 to be placed on the Consent Agenda. <br />Councilmember Callahan suggested that budgeted items under <br />$50,000 be allowed to be placed on the Consent Agenda. <br />CounciImembers Peterson and Goetten thought that amount is <br />too high. Councilmember Peterson suggested $15,000. <br />Councilmember Callahan suggested trying <br />temporary basis to see how effective it is. <br />$15,000 on a <br />It was moved by Councilmember Callahan, seconded by <br />Councilmember Nettles, to not allow any expenditure over $15,000 <br />to be placed on the Consent Agenda. Councilmember Goetten asked <br />if tne fact that only one bid was received for the sweeper <br />presents any concerns? Gerhardson replied that the bid received <br />is fair and reasonable. Motion, Ayes-4, Grabek, Nay, Motion <br />passed. <br />It was moved by Councilmember Callahan, seconded by <br />Councilmember Peterson, to award the bid to MacQueen Equipment <br />Company of St. Paul for one new street sweeper for an amount not <br />to exceed $66,956.00. Motion, Ayes-5, Nays-0, Motion passed. <br />ADMINISTRATOR'S INFORMATION* <br />It was moved by Councilmember Goetten, seconded by <br />Councilmember Peterson, to accept the City Administrator’s <br />Information regarding; Highway 12 Corridor Status; LOGO; <br />Westonka Pool; 1972 Shadywood Road; Administrator's Vacation; <br />Goals and Objectives; January Receipts & Disbursements; and Wire <br />Transfers Motion, Ayes-5, Nays-0, Motion passed. <br />CITY ATTORNEY'S REPORT: <br />City Attorney Barrett had no report for this meeting. <br />- 25 -
