Gerhardson, Public Works Director <br />DATE: March 22, 1990 <br />SUBJECT: Yard Waste Composting 1990 <br />On March 12, 1990 you were presented with the option <br />regarding yardwaste for the City of Orono for 1990. <br />As stated in the earlier memo we have no choice but to <br />administer a compost program for the City of Orono. The <br />following is the recommended program; <br />Every Saturday beginning May 19 thru June 30, residents may <br />bring their leaves to a drop site by the equipment shed in <br />Crystal Bay and empty their bags of leaves or grass only into a <br />large container. July, August and September, residents will be <br />able to dropoff their grass and leaves at the same location one <br />Saturday per month. October and November, revert to every <br />Saturday until weather conditions no longer permit. The City <br />will provide a 20-40 yard container at $150.00 per day. We will <br />also have an attendant on duty. <br />necoanendation to establish a leaf and grass dropoff program as <br />stated above and to fund the cost of the program from the <br />recycling program. <br />Proposed Notion _ _Moved, _ _Seconded, to establish a leaf and <br />grass dropoff program as outlined above and to fund the cost of <br />the program from the recycling program.
