One of t.haaa <br />applicants scheduled called to say he had accepted a <br />position with tha Plymouth Polica Department. <br />Thera ware three applicants interviewed by an oral board on <br />Fabruary 14, 1990. The final interview by the city <br />administrator and the Chief of the top two candidates was <br />conducted on 2/21/90. <br />The applicant selected is Derek Thomas Pelkki, 24 years old, <br />of 012 Sth Avenue NW, #4, Grand Rapids, MN, 55744. He has a <br />four year degree in Criminal Justice from Bemidji State. Ha <br />attended Skills course at Hibbing, MN, August to September, <br />1989. He has performed an internship with the Beltrami <br />County Sheriffs office. <br />I request that we start Mr. Palkki as a part-time officer, <br />working 20 hours a week at the rate of S9.2S5 hourly with an <br />annual review, subject to his passing a backro id check, <br />psychological and physical, which are scheduled for Tuesday <br />and Wednesday, 2/27/90 and 2/28/90. <br />The second applicant interviewed, Timothy Lem Sladek, 22 <br />years old from Champlin, MN, is the Department alternate <br />choice if Mr. Palkki does not pass the tests scheduled. M <br />Sladek has a two year degree from Vermillion Community <br />College in Ely and took his skills at Hibbing, August to <br />September, 1989. He worked his internship with the U.S. <br />Forest Service.
