‘j <br />r <br />j <br />'ll <br />r • <br />! <br />w <br />3.01 <br />A. <br />B. <br />C. <br />A. <br />A. <br />B. <br />C. <br />D. <br />PART 3 - EXECUTION <br />PIPE AND FITTINGS <br />Piping shall be run substantially as shown on the drawings <br />Adjustments to locations shall be made where necessary to <br />accommodate interferences made apparent in the field. <br />Make all reductions in pipe size with eccentric or concentric, <br />as appropriate, reading fittings to allow for complete gravity <br />draining of lines. Use no bushings. All pipe nipples shall <br />be of the same material as lines in which they occur. Mini> <br />mum size of water piping shall be 1/2" except within 12" of <br />fixture. <br />Piping shall be installed and valved to provide for complete <br />drainage through drain cocks. All pipe runs shall be straight <br />and with uniform pitch. Support all piping adequately to <br />prevent sag and pocketing. <br />1. <br />2. <br />3. <br />Concealed Piping. All piping buried underground or con­ <br />cealed in walls, ceilings, conduit or chases must be <br />inspected and approved by the Engineer before being <br />covered or enclosed. <br />Exposed Piping. Install exposed piping as close to ceilings <br />and beams as possible, maintaining highest possible head- <br />room consistent with the correct pitching of the pipe. <br />Gas Piping. Install all gas piping in accordance with <br />the local gas company's, AGA's and State's minimum standard <br />- see piping connections inside the building. 1-1/2" and <br />'arger shall be made only with welded joints. <br />3.02 PREPARATION <br />Ream pipes and tubes. Clean off scale and dirt, inside and <br />outside, before assembly. Remove welding slag or other <br />foreign material before piping. <br />3.03 CONNECTION <br />Screw joint steel piping up to and including 2 inc... ' . <br />piing 2-1/2 inch and larger, including branch connection^ <br />Make screwed joints with full cut standard taper pipe threads <br />with red lead and linseed oil or other approved non-toxic <br />joint compound applied to male threads only. <br />Jointh for cast iron bell and spigot pipe: (lead and oakum) <br />(neoprene gasketing system). <br />Clamp cast iron water pipe at fittings with 3/4 inch rods <br />and properly anchor and support. <br />15060-4
