Date: August 26, 2024 Item: 7 <br />Presenter: Correy Farniok, Police Chief <br />Section: Consent Agenda <br /> <br />Title: OPD Handgun Purchase <br /> <br /> <br />1.Purpose: <br />The purpose is to gain approval to purchase department issued handguns. <br />2.Background: <br />The police department is seeking authorization to purchase handguns, sights and holsters for the <br />police officers. Our current duty handguns are 10-12 years old. The Orono police department is <br />requesting 35 - Glock model 45MOSS 9mm pistols with Holosun sights and a TLR -1 weapon <br />mounted flashlight. The handguns, sights, flashlights and holsters will be purchased directly <br />through Glock via Kiesler Police Supply. <br /> <br />The Orono Police Department has been provided an estimate of approximately $300.00 per Glock, <br />sight/flashlight/camera and holster. There are currently 36 - Glock model 19/17 that will be traded <br />in to offset the purchase of the new handguns. The approximate value of the trade is $10,800.00. <br />3.Cost: <br />The city is using the state contracted pricing for the purchase of these handguns. The police <br />department budgeted for the replacement of handguns in its 2024/2025 CIP and is requesting to <br />replace these handguns in the next several months. The current build/delivery time is <br />approximately 90 days. <br /> <br />Glock 45MOSS GEN5 9mm, Holosun sights x 35 = $27,346.20 <br />Safariland holster x 35= $4,954.95 <br />Streamlight TLR-1 Flashlights x 35 =$4,788.70 <br />Total with shipping is $37,159.85 <br /> <br />4.Funding: <br />The purchase will be funded through the police CIP.
