O O CITY of ORONO <br /> RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br /> NO. 6 $ <br /> ��kES>rIO�� <br /> A RESOLUTION <br /> GRANTING VARIANCES <br /> TO ORONO MUNICIPAL CODE <br /> SECTIONS 78-1685 and 78-1700 <br /> FILE NO. 12-3581 <br /> WHEREAS, Michael Gerald Baskfield and Sharon Joy Baskfield, a <br /> married couple, (hereinafter "Applicants") are the owners of the property located at 2755 <br /> Casco Point Road within the City of Orono (hereinafter "City") and legally described as: Lot <br /> 7, Auditor's Subdivision No. 265, Hennepin County, Minnesota (hereinafter"the Property"); <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, the home on the Property was constructed in 1989 just prior to <br /> the adoption of the City's massing standards limiting properties less than 2.0 acres to 15% <br /> coverage by structures; and <br /> WHEREAS, in 1989 a 75' to 250' zone hardcover variance was granted for <br /> the construction of the new home permitting 34.26% (3,580 square feet) within the 75' to 250' <br /> zone where 25% is normally allowed; and <br /> WHEREAS, the approved structural coverage level for the Property in 1989 <br /> was 2,750 square feet (17.9%); and <br /> WHEREAS, the Applicants have made application to the City for a variance <br /> from Orono Code Section 78-1685 in order reconstruct an existing deck resulting in 2,896 <br /> square feet (18.8%) structural coverage where 15% is the limitation per City Code, 17.9% <br /> was previously permitted and 2,896 square feet (18.8%) currently exists; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Applicants have made application to the City for a variance <br /> from Orono Code Section 78-1700 in order to permit 4,492 square feet (29.2%) hardcover <br /> where 3,834.5 square feet (25%) is permitted based on gross lot area and 4,492 square feet <br /> (29.2%) hardcover currently exists in conjunction with the reconstruction of an existing deck <br /> and patio; and <br /> WHEREAS, after due published notice and mailed notice in accordance with <br /> Minnesota Statutes and the Orono, Minnesota, City Code, the Orono Planning Commission <br /> held a public hearing on November 19, 2012, at which times all persons desiring to be heard <br /> concerning this application were given the opportunity to speak thereon. <br /> Page 1 of 5 <br />
