The LMCD is targeted for adding at least two additional staff positions to implement the objectives contained in the Long-Term Management Program. The purpose of the funding program is to distribute the cost of management programs to all who benefit. Several sources are identified for the increased funds. The first is to maintain the present 1 mill levy on the lakeshore communities. That levy shall be independent of individual city limits. A new property tax on the entire service region for Lake Minnetonka is proposed. Other sources of funds include a metropolitan boat sticker (license), and an improved service fee structure. The LMCD will seek bonding authority for appropriate improvement projects. (This is consistent with lake improvement districts formed by counties under Minnesota Statutes.)
