The proposal contained a separate bid for a 12 inch dianeter well and a <br />separate bid for a 16 inch diameter well. Keys Well Drilling Company. Inc. <br />submitted the lowest bid on both sizes of wells in the amounts of $60,440.00 <br />and $70,155.00 respectively. Both amounts were below the Engineer’s estimates <br />of $78,600 and $95,200. The bid amounts are extremely competitive due to the <br />minimal amount of well work that has been available in recent months. Keys <br />Well Drilling is a reputable contractor and should be considered the low re­ <br />sponsible bidder. <br />Two sizes of wells were bid to allow the City to compare capacity versus costs <br />of wells. The capacity of the 12 inch well is limited by the size of pump <br />that could be instal.led and would have a nominal capacity of 500 GPM. The 16 <br />inch well is limited by the rate at which the aquifer can be pumped. It is <br />expected that the aquifer can be developed to produce approximately 1000 GPM. <br />Based on the bid amounts and estimated well capacities, the 16 inch well costs <br />16Z more but has a potential for 200Z greeter capacity.
