Aug - Dec. 1989 <br />1 <br />September Minnetonka Boat Works Wayzata order for 12 new permanent docks <br />approved on a special density permit. <br />Minnetonka Boat Works Orono order for 6 new permanent docks on <br />Brown's Bay and 42 new permanent docks on Tanager Lake was approved <br />contingent upon resolution of an Environmental Assessment Worksheet. <br />Minnetonka Yacht Club/Lake Minnetonka Sailing School order for 22 <br />new permanent docks in St. Louis Bay approved on a special density <br />permit. <br />Deicing ordinance reviewed to adopt minor changes to fencing <br />requirements during deicing season. <br />Bean's Greenwood Marina application for changes to dock configura- <br />tion under consideration pending City of Greenwood and LMCD Water <br />Structures Committee reviewt recommendations. <br />Minor discrepancy in Smith's Bay Marina as-built survey resolved as <br />inconsequential to the total dock installation* approved as built. <br />Installation of docks on residential property in Greenwood at Manor <br />Drive reviewed for conformance to LMCD Code* found in compliance with <br />present provisions. Greenwood moratorium on outlot and other dock <br />installations brought to LMCD Board attention. <br />Eurasian water milfoil weed harvesting report shows over 600 acres <br />presently harvested* program to end September 29* for this season. <br />Consultant to weed harvesting program Merila and Chair Hurr visited <br />Lake Chataqua in Lakewood* NY* observing their operation for possible <br />application of LMCD doing its own "in house" operation in 1990. <br />Matching fund request for Corps of Engineers support of 1990 Eurasian <br />water milfoil weed harvesting effort submitted to Wash. DC headquarters. <br />Chair Hurr and executive director met with Hennepin County Public <br />Works director to secure additional equipment support for 1990 weed <br />harvesting program. <br />Eurasian water milfoil weed harvesting program* chaired by Tom Reese* <br />Mound* recognized by the Board for being positively carried out. <br />Personal watercraft study involved testing of decibel ratings and <br />noise output of factory produced and modified personal watercraft. <br />Results showed factory noise levels are within allowances* modified <br />equipment is significantly above it in many instances. <br />Charter boat code amended to advance application due date from May 1 <br />to March 1* and making application approval subject to operating <br />inspections conducted by MN DNR and Sheriff's Water Patrol. A charter <br />boat study committee was formed to review other operating conditions. <br />Water Patrol reported 57 Boating While Intoxicated citations* highest <br />number for any county in state* a recognition of tough enforcement.
