Minnetonka Boat Worksi Inc- {Orono> <br />Public Hearing for Density on M/fl/fiT <br />The Order for approvali per committee recommendation-i was subject to the <br />outcome of an Environmental Assessment Worksheet as required by <br />the Environmental duality Board- Action on the order was held pending <br />the EAW outcome- <br />The Environmental Assessment Worksheet was approved by the Board Oct- SSi <br />I'W'li for subsequent distribution and publication as required by the EdB- <br />Comment period on the EAW was determined to be Dec- 13i llfll'* during which <br />time all eligible agencies and interested parties were notified of their <br />right to comment on the marina expansion- The following comments were made <br />or received: <br />1- Orono City Council Acting Mayor Callahan was left with the impression <br />that the footage of lakeshore to justify the expansion should only have <br />been that on the Tanager Lake side- In facti the applicant was allowed <br />to apply the 3i310' of lake frontage which involves both the Brown's Bay <br />and Tanager Lake shoreline- The marina is considered one site- <br />2- The Metropolitan Council concluded that the EAW is complete and accurate <br />with respect to regional concerns•« and raises no major issues of consis <br />tency with Council policies- It concluded an EIS is not necessary for <br />regioral purposes- <br />3. The MN Dep.irtment of Natural Resources concluded this project has no <br />adverse Imparts on natural resources- <br />M- The Minnesota Historical Society inquired to verify if a burial mound <br />might be involved in the vicinity of the marina property- Upon review <br />with Ted Lofstromi it was concluded that the suspected burial ground <br />is to the west of the channel to Tanager Lake-i not affected by the <br />marina expansion- <br />Pursuant to MN Rules part Mm0-31D0i subp 1 -Bi this EAW review process <br />finds support for a negative declaration and a determination that an <br />Environmental Impact Statement CEISl is not required-
