W <br /> Minutes <br /> City Council Regular Meeting <br /> y Monday,July 22,2024, 6:00 PM <br /> City Council Chambers 2780 Kelley Parkway, Orono, MN 55356 <br /> kEs H O <br /> Fire Chief Van Eyll said the purpose of this agenda item was to promote three firefighters to fire officers, <br /> and one to a fire prevention specialist. There were job descriptions approved for these positions at an <br /> earlier meeting,but no compensation rates were approved. <br /> Crosby moved,Benson seconded,to approve the compensation rates of Deputy Chief of Training to <br /> $25.00, Captain to $22.00,Lieutenant to $21.00 and Fire Prevention Specialist to $22.00 per hour. <br /> VOTE: Ayes 4,Nays 1 (Benson). <br /> 11. Correspondence with City of Long Lake Fire Service from Orono Fire Department. <br /> Walsh said the City of Long Lake had declined the City of Orono's offer of fire service coverage under <br /> the new Orono Fire Department. He read a letter of response acknowledging the City of Long Lake's <br /> letter and indicating the City had made arrangements with other service partners to cover the lake areas in <br /> the Navarre Service Area now being covered by the new Orono Fire Department, since Orono FD does <br /> not have a boat. <br /> The Council discussed the item and asked questions of staff. <br /> Walsh moved,Crosby seconded,to accept the draft letter to the City of Long Lake as presented. <br /> VOTE: Ayes 4,Nays 1 (Benson). <br /> Van Eyll reported on the expected delivery of the new tanker and call numbers and types from July 8 to <br /> July 15. He said there have been a few more calls in the early weeks than anticipated,but that response <br /> coverage has been good. <br /> CITY ATTORNEY REPORT <br /> City Attorney Mattick said the parties had met and the lawsuit between the City of Orono and Erickson <br /> has been dismissed by mutual agreement of both parties. <br /> COUNCIL COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> 12. Council Committee Reports <br /> The Communications Committee and Long Lake Fire Advisory Committees have met. Veach reported on <br /> the Communications Committee and Veach and Crosby reported on the Fire Advisory Board. <br /> PUBLIC COMMENTS <br /> Sandy Whisler,2683 North Shore Drive; Stacey Royal, 3135 Jamestown Rd; Cody Farley, Long Lake, <br /> assistant fire chief; Kelly Grady,Long Lake; and Brad Erickson, Corcoran provided comments. <br /> MAYOR/COUNCIL REPORT <br /> Mayor and Council provided reports. <br /> ADJOURNMENT <br /> Page 2 of 3 <br />
