What is the West Lakes Pickleball project? <br />•Initiated in 2021 by the Orono Community <br />•Public/private partnership with Orono Parks <br />Legacy and members of the West Lakes <br />Pickleball Club <br />•9 fenced courts - parking for 40-50 vehicles <br />•Programs through Orono Community Education <br />The City of Orono’s Master plan includes a 9-court outdoor complex as of February 2024. <br />Commitment of a $375,000 parcel of land near the Long Lake Fire Station, and good faith intent to <br />contribute to the storm water management, landscaping, trails/sidewalks and design work have <br />laid a solid foundation for the project. <br />We seek to raise $800,000 through donations and grants to make the project a 2025-26 reality. <br />12
