r=- <br />it- <br />November 15, 1991 <br />Representative Steve Smith <br />District 43A <br />Room 353 <br />State Office Building <br />St. Paul, MN. 55155 <br />SUBJECT: REPEAL M.S. 207A -PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARY <br />Dear Repgeuentative Smith- <br />the resolution is because of the failure of the State ^gislature <br />to provide funding to pay the costs of conducting this extra <br />Primary. <br />The City Council was of the opinion that the funding <br />Presidential Primary should come from state and/or political <br />party revenue sources not from local taxes. <br />mwArafore# the City Council is asking that there be legislative <br />action in the special legislative session scheduled January 6 - <br />17 1992, calling for the repeal of Chapter 207A or a <br />postponement of the Presidential Primary for at least four years <br />in order for full funding to be approved at the state level, <br />eliminating the need for any local government funding for <br />conducting this primary. <br />Thank you for your cooperation <br />Sincerely, <br />Francene C.
