!?.' <br />> <br />f-1.' <br />f-¥ <br />■ iu' <br />■I <br />f <br />kI- <br />A <br />i <br />R, <br />teFk <br />U- <br />I- <br />’f <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR ORONO COUNCIL MEETING - NOVEMBER 25* 19B1 <br />OPTIONS FOR FARINA LICENSE REVIEW - CONT. <br />Jabbour asked if that decision rendered any rights to the LMCD to <br />regulate on-shore activities, such as drystacking. <br />Barrett was unfamiliar with any court case that gave the LMCD <br />those rights. <br />Callahan noted a' letter from the LMCD stating they would be glad <br />to regulate land use for marinas, and they intended to start with <br />lighting of docks. <br /><#11) SPATES AVENUE TRAFFIC CONCERNS <br />Moorse noted this is regarding concerns by homeowners that live <br />on Spates Avenue aoout excessive traffic on the residential <br />street. <br />Gerhardson noted that alternatives were looked at and the <br />proposal before the Council to barricade Spates Avenue with <br />banning was agreed upon. <br />Butler asked how effective- berming could bo accomplished, and <br />ashSd If a person could sti.l use Railroad Avenue. <br />Gerhardson noted that for now it would be done with Just a pile <br />of sand at the intersection of Spates Avenue and Brown Road. He <br />noted persons could still turn- onto Spates Avenue and then down <br />Railroad Avenue. <br />Mayor Peterson asked if this could be considered precedence <br />setting. <br />Gerhardson noted that in similar situations, definitely. <br />Oan Crear* Spates Avenue, submitted a petition from residents <br />requesting the closing. <br />Callahan felt that to close a public road, everyone in the City <br />would need to be notified. He did not believe the road should be <br />cut off. He believed that the Increase in the traffic count on <br />the road Indicates that the public wants to use the road. <br />Mayor Peterson agreed with Callahan to a certain degree. She <br />reiterated that It is a public road, and felt the public should <br />be notified. <br />Jabbour noted that he felt the public should be notified and <br />stated that he had gotten a call from a resident asking about the <br />^ssue end Jabbour told hi* he was unaware of anything going on <br />the road. He felt everyone should be notified.
