This committee would also consider the physicj’ aspects
of the school's library system.
- COfiHUNITY EDUCATION
The Community Education program is the obvious nucleus for a number of the
Issues raised by Board members. Additionally* the Conmunity^Education^
Committee needs to develop a long-range plan. While the advisory committee
is in part, doing this, the emphasis here would be to integrate that work
into the overall future of the District. Topics to be studied include; pre
school program, youth development, integration of programs with regular edu
cation (e.g. suinner school), etc.
- CURRICULUM/OUTCOME BASED EDUCATION
The effort here is the integration of the present curriculum with the most
beneficial aspects of outcome based education. Additionally, the committee
would review the basic scope and sequence of the curriculi^ for strengths and
deficiencies. Topics to study would include; opportunities available for
all students, language arts test scores, the future of vocational and busi
ness education within the curriculum, the guidance and counselling program.
- COCURRICULAR
This committee would take as its charge a comprehensive review of the
existing cocurricular and extracurricular programs. The review would focus
on student participation, scope and sequence of the offerings, and a cost
analysis.
- COMHUNITY RELATIONS
The long-range planning process provides the opportunity to develop a com
munity relations plan which takes advantage of a supportive committee.
Topics for the committee Include: a review of quality and benefit of current
publications, various community relations efforts and new ventures such as
business partnerships.
. TECHNOLOGY
This committee is currently in progress and has presented its first report
to the Board.
. SITE BASED DECISION-HAKING
As a result of administrative intent and negotiations with the OEA, we have
agreed to a study committee for 1991-1992. The work of this committee and
the subsequent recommendations should be undertaken in the spirit and context
of long-range planning.
Please note that these areas are tentative and open to revision.
