r*. rfr-;NOlUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE SCHOOL <br />OF ORONO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 278 <br />HELD ON SEPTEMBER 23, 1991 <br />n <br />"ocr 1 7 1991 <br />The regular meeting of the School Board of Orono Independent School District No. <br />278 was held on Monday, September 23, 1991 at 6:00 p.m. <br />Present: David McKown <br />John Maresh <br />Peg Swanson <br />Martha Van de Ven <br />Thomas Mich <br />Neal Lawson <br />Absent: Don Anderson <br />James Franklin <br />Or. Mich stated that the reason for the Board meeting time being changed is due <br />to the fact that at the high school tonight there is a meeting for senior <br />parents and Back to School Night followed by the coronation for the homecoming <br />activities this week. <br />Dr. Mich reported that Dr. Greenfield's father is critically ill and he has been <br />In Chicago for the past few days; that he was distributing an article from the <br />SAILOR regarding Orono*s preschool program; that congratulations are in order to <br />those who organized the opening of the Olympic program last Friday at Schumann <br />Elementary as well as to the students for their superb participation. <br />At this time Cheryl Blonigan, on behalf of the Olympic committee, presented each <br />teard member with a t-shirt in appreciation for the support received from the <br />Board of Education. <br />Or. Mich distributed the new Orono High School student handbook, which was <br />developed by Dr. Greenfield and his staff, and he expressed appreciation to them <br />for their work/efforts in providing this handbook for the students. <br />Or. Mich reported that Orono is one out of seven school districts in the State <br />that received an exemplary rating for their planning, evaluating and reporting <br />for last year or their Annual Report; that he wanted to share with the Board a <br />news release announcing the formation of a task force which will prepare a youth <br />development/youth service plan during the coming year; that he wanted to express <br />appreciation to Greg Alshouse and Keith Anderson who not only raised the money <br />but also organized a work force to make improvements this past weekend to the <br />baseball diamond; that a handicapped lift is being installed at the Orono <br />Primary School. <br />A...i
