Minutes <br />City Council Regular Meeting <br />Monday, June 10, 2024, 6:00 PM <br />City Council Chambers 2780 Kelley Parkway, Orono, MN 55356 <br />Page 2 of 3 <br />The Council discussed the item and asked questions of staff and Claire Berrett, president of the Orono <br />Garden Club. <br />Johnson moved, Crosby seconded, to adopt Resolution 7485 accepting the donation of trees from <br />the Orono Garden Club. VOTE: Ayes 4, Nays 0. <br />PUBLIC SAFETY REPORT <br />9. Plumbing Improvements at Temporary Fire Station <br />The City Council is requested to review the Staff report, receive a presentation,and discuss and approve <br />awarding the contract for basic plumbing improvements to install laundry facilities to low bidder B & D <br />Plumbing for $9,753. <br />Crosby moved, Johnson seconded, to award the contract for the plumbing improvement to B & D <br />Plumbing. VOTE: Ayes 3, Nays 1 (Benson). <br />10. Hire Part-Time Fire Fighters <br />The City Council is requested to review the staff report, receive a presentation,and discuss and approve <br />hiring Stephanie Erven as a part-time firefighter. <br />Johnson moved, Crosby seconded, to approve a conditional job offer to Stephanie Erven with an <br />effective start date of June 11 at a rate of $20 per hour. VOTE: Ayes 3, Nays 1 (Benson). <br />Fire Chief Van Eyll updated the City Council on the stand-up status of the new Orono Fire Department in <br />terms of staffing and equipment for a July 1 start-up. <br />CITY ATTORNEY REPORT <br />Amy Schmidt of Cambell Knutson was present on behalf of City Attorney Soren Mattick and did not <br />have a report. <br />CITY ADMINISTRATOR/ENGINEER REPORT <br />6.2023 Funds Transfer <br />The City Council is requested to review the staff report, receive a presentation,and discuss and approve <br />the 2023 Funds Transfer. <br />Johnson moved, Crosby seconded, to approve the 2023 Funds Transfer. VOTE: Ayes 4, Nays 0. <br />COUNCIL COMMITTEE REPORTS <br />13.Council Committee Reports <br />Walsh and Benson reported on a meeting of the Legal Committee.City Administrator Edwards reported <br />for Council Member Veach on the Long Lake Fire Advisory Board meeting. <br />6
