Date: June 24, 2024 Item: 6 <br />Presenter: Maggie Jin, Finance Director <br />Section: Consent Agenda <br /> <br />Title: Hire IT Technician <br /> <br /> <br />1.Purpose: <br />The purpose of this action is to hire and appoint the IT Technician position. <br />2.Background: <br />At the May 13th Council meeting, the IT Technician position was amended and recruitment for the <br />position was authorized. <br />3.Recruitment: <br />Staff posted the position through June 2nd and received thirty applications. The interview process <br />was conducted on June 11th and 12th. Staff have selected a candidate to fill the position. <br />4.Recommended Candidate: <br />Jon Guimont is the recommended candidate for the IT Technician Position. Jon has had over 2 <br />years of experience in IT support and have been serving in the public sector for over 7 years. <br />5.Recommended Compensation: <br />Staff recommends that Mr. Guimont be appointed to the position of IT Technician effective July <br />15, 2024. <br />a. Salary. Starting wage of $29.28 (Grade 8, Start Step) <br />b. Benefits. Vacation will accrue at a rate of 10 days per year and follow Local 12 Union <br />agreement. Vacation and sick leave will begin on the start date.
