She asked fir. Farnhan if his concerns were nainly of a <br />financial aspect. <br />Fanham indicated that he was not concerned about dollars, <br />but was concerned about size, and would rather see dollars spent <br />on something other than excess space. He suggested to Counci] <br />that they could have a v/orkable, adequate size facility s’mply by- <br />cutting the square footage of the administrative and police <br />departments by 30% to *10%, and the public worxs department by -i0% <br />to 50%. <br />Calxdhan asked Farnham to be specific. <br />Farnhara suggested reducing everything do\/n to the size <br />legally required. <br />Jabbour commented that if that were done, the result would <br />be the City’s existing facility. <br />Farnham said, "We all want a new facility, we just want a <br />different size." <br />Goetten asked Farnham if he had toured the existing City <br />facilities and seen how woefully inadequate they are. She <br />advised Farnham that it v/ould be mucn more beneficial if he could <br />present relevant statistics and constructive ideas. <br />Farnham stated that he had thought Council had appreciated <br />and accepted his past efforts on this matter, but that for some <br />time. Council has rejected his ideas. <br />Jabbour stated that he has made every effort to make himself <br />available to discuss this matter with Mr. Farnham, and that <br />Council has tried to be receptive to his concerns. <br />Callahan added that Councilmembers took time to look into <br />the situations with the cities of Plymouth and Coon Rapids, which <br />is an indication that Council paid much attention to points <br />raised by Mr. Farnham, <br />Farnham apologized for taking Council's time. <br />Council took no formal action on this matter. <br />(§15)LAKE USE COMMITTEE <br />It v/as agreed that the Lake Use Committee would attempt to <br />meet on July 29, 1991, at 7:00 p.m. Gaffron indicated that he <br />would inform John Shardlow of the meeting date and time. <br />Council accepted the information provided in Mark <br />- 13 -
