Box 66 <br />Orono, MN 55323 <br />JVn <br />7Qo» <br />Re: Reouest for waiver of demolition permit <br />Residence on Lot 1, Block 1, MacMILLAN ADDITION, <br />according to the recorded plat thereof, Orono, Minnesota <br />TO: Mayor and Members of the City Council <br />Ftor a number of years it had become obvious that it did not make practical <br />sense for our family to retain the old residence on Lot 1, Block 1, MacMILLAN <br />ADDITION since no one was living in the house, and therefore a determination <br />was made to remove the dwelling house from the propeiT)r. We made this <br />dftermimthy* as far back as our going through the subdivision processes with ^ <br />rtgird to the lot on which this house was located. In connection with the platting of <br />the property, the removal of the dwelling house from the property was (hscussed <br />many times in cor nection with tk location lot lines within the subdivision, as <br />wdl as in connection with setba> x lines respecting the location of the tennis court <br />on an p* opcrty. I merely recount this hbtoiy to indicate that there was <br />certainly no effort on our part whatsoever to blur, hide or make less dear our <br />intentions with regard to this dwelling house, and discussed it with the City <br />Planning Staff as long ago as the early summer of 1990 when the preliminary <br />platting processes were being worked out <br />In the early spring of 1991, it was determined that we could both do a service <br />aS OnwA M limit M iwdutv cofits and exDenscs, ifto the fire fighters serving thi <br />we would offer the dwelling <br />to be conducted by the Long Lake Rre Department serving that portion of the City of <br />Mot only would die Rre Department volunteers benefit from the training, <br />but obviously our family would benefit by minimizing expense in removi^ the <br />dwelling hnusv from die property. Widi diat in mind, we contacted Mr. Rick Perry, <br />die Qdef of the Long Volunteer Rre Department and inquired of him about <br />hevii^ die Rre Department do a controlled burning and training exerdae at tlw <br />lioitfe.
