The City Council has considered this application including the findings and <br /> recommendations of the Planning Commission, reports by City staff, comments by the <br /> applicants and the effect of the proposed variances on the health, safety and welfare of the <br /> community. <br /> The applicant has made a slight modification to the site plan that was considered by the Planning <br /> Commission (6 to 0 to approve), and the Council on September 28, 1998 (5 to 0 to approve). <br /> Upon review by members of the City of Orono Staff the following has been determined: <br /> 1. The revised plan, dated 10/20/98, has moved the residence further from the lake, less <br /> i impacting any views of the lake from adjacent properties. <br /> 2. The residence will be located 18' further from the west property line. <br /> 3. The pool terrace will be located 5' further from the east property line. <br /> 4. The applicant has indicted the hardcover and structural coverage are below the City's <br /> allowable requirements. <br /> 5. No other variances were required for the original approval (September 28, 1998). The <br /> revised site plan would not require variances. <br /> 6. The revised plan has removed a detached gazebo from the pool terrace that would be <br /> located closer to the lake than the residence. The removal of this gazebo protects lake <br /> views from the adjacent properties. <br /> 7. The revised plan is for a smaller residence that will be located further back on the lot less <br /> impacting lakeshore views for adjacent residences. <br /> A copy of this memorandum has been placed in the City address file and in Zoning file #2419. <br /> I <br />
