Minutes <br />Planning Commission Regular Meeting <br />Monday, May 20, 2024, 6:00 PM <br />City Council Chambers 2780 Kelley Parkway, Orono, MN 55356 <br /> <br /> <br />Page 1 of 3 <br /> <br /> Acting Chair Ressler called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m., followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. <br /> <br />1. ROLL CALL <br />Orono Planning Commission members present: Acting Chair Jon Ressler, Commissioners Mark <br />McCutcheon, Dennis Libby, Bob Erickson, Ted Schultze, and Scott Kirchner. Commissioners Chris <br />Bollis and Gary Kraemer were absent. <br /> <br />Staff present: Community Development Director Laura Oakden, City Planner Melanie Curtis, and City <br />Planner Natalie Nye. <br /> <br />2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE <br /> <br />3. NEW BUSINESS <br />3.1 Oath of Office – Bob Erickson, Dennis Libby and Jon Ressler <br />Three current Planning Commission members were reappointed for another three-year term and took the <br />Oath of Office. <br />4. APPROVAL OF AGENDA <br /> <br />Kirchner moved, Libby seconded, to approve the Agenda. VOTE: Ayes 6, Nays 0. <br /> <br />5. APPROVAL OF PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES OF APRIL 15, 2024 <br /> <br />McCutcheon moved, Erickson seconded, to approve the minutes of the Orono Planning <br />Commission meeting of April 15, 2024. VOTE: Ayes 6, Nays 0. <br /> <br />6. PUBLIC HEARINGS <br /> <br />6.1. LA24-000017 COURTNEY PAULSON, 1090 WILDHURST TRAIL, AVERAGE <br />LAKESHORE SETBACK, SIDE YARD SETBACK AND HARDCOVER VARIANCES <br /> <br />The Planning Commission is requested to review the Staff report, receive a presentation, and discuss and <br />approve the requested variances. <br /> <br />The Planning Commission discussed the item and had no additional questions for staff or the applicant, <br />Courtney Paulson, 1090 Wildhurst Trail, who was present. <br /> <br />Chair Ressler opened the public hearing at 6:05 p.m. <br /> <br />There were no public comments. <br /> <br />Chair Ressler closed the public hearing at 6:05 p.m. <br /> <br />Commissioners said they felt practical difficulty had been established and noted staff was in support of <br />the application and that there was really no other logical place to add a deck. <br /> <br />3
