She sees <br />•urn-of-the-centurv' families, dressed <br />n their Sunday best, stepping off the <br />^in. bound for their summer places <br />on the lake. At 87 years oid. .VlilJie <br />recalls the heydays of Lake \Iinne- <br />tonka during the eariy part of the <br />“When I was young, people didn t <br />go ‘up north: they spent their summers <br />or summer vacations on Lake Minne- <br />rppifA and they came here by train, <br />she lecaiis. The plan <br />also contains a set of goals and <br />that are intended to guide <br />development dedsions over the <br />nurt 10 years. Additionally, the <br />plan forms the basis for future <br />modifications of the soning ordi­ <br />nance. In the Twin Cities Mei±o- <br />potitan Area, comprehensr-s plans <br />were mandated by the passage of the <br />197R Land Planning Act In re­ <br />sponse to the legislation, a plan <br />w8a prepared in the eariy 1980s. <br />The current comprehensive plan <br />update builds upon the eaiiier <br />plan. <br />In accordance with the law. <br />the .Mound ComprefaeMive Plan is <br />subject to the review of the Metro* <br />politan Council Their review, <br />which will occur after the public <br />bearing, will focus on the plan's <br />consistency with what are called <br />metropolitan systems. Metropoli­ <br />tan systems include transporta­ <br />tion, airports, parks and open <br />space, sanitary sewer capacity and <br />solid waste. After review by the <br />Metropolitan Council the plan <br />can be formally adopted by the City <br />of Mound. <br />Copies of the plan are avail­ <br />able for review at City Hall and at <br />the Mound Library. Mark your <br />calendars for July 23. Come to the <br />Planning Commission meeting <br />and share your vision of what <br />Mound should be in the year 2000.
