First <br />National Bank of Wavtata. and the Wavgata Area Publie SrhnnU <br />Foundation through the Teacher Venture Fund. <br />The following teasers were honored at a Teacher Venture Fund <br />recognition event* Karen Baganv (Greenwood), Debhie Hoeve <br />(Greenwood), Trish Jensen (East), Bob McCloughan rnft^cwnni^^ <br />Joyce Runvon (Gleason Lake), Lvnda Rutherford (Oakwood). Sue <br />SigfiidaQn (Greenwood), an d Bonnie Stone fOakwond^ <br />Dave Landswerk will be saluted by WCCO radio (830) as the <br />May 22 Good Neighbor in recognition of his selection by MAEOP <br />(hCnnesota Association of Educational Office Personnel) as the <br />Minnesota Educational Administrator of the Year. <br />Sliv Carlson recently completed Leadership Twin West, a year <br />long training program for selected members of the chariber of <br />c jnunerce group. <br />WHS seniors Tim Kovonen and Sean MrAd«fn« reported <br />on school activities. Advanced Placement tests are currently <br />being taken. A student council exchange with Minneapolis Edison <br />was completed. WHS students visited Edison and the next day <br />Edison leaders were guests at Wa3rzata. It was an eye <br />opening experience according to both students. The Waysata <br />Student Council will host a Lake Conference Hcnic on June 2. The <br />council has held a series of open forums to explain the workings of <br />the coun^. WHS has adopt^ the Luce Line between Vicksburg and <br />101 and is responsible for cleanup. Kbyonen and McAdams thanked <br />the WHS staff and district administration for their part in the <br />selection of WHS as a **National School of Excellence." <br />Martha Anderson expressed concern regarding the late starting time <br />for elementary schools. She stated that an earlier starting hour <br />would be (1) more convenient for parents, many of whom both work, <br />and (2) more in keeping with the physiology of elementary students, <br />who are usually early risers and more productive in early morning. <br />Dave Landswerk reported that the Scho<J Board election is set for <br />Ttiesdav. May 21. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. The seats <br />curren*' *' dd by Howard Caamev and Marv Smith are <br />upfot <1. Three candidates have filed for the two seats: <br />Howar av. Marv Smith, and Tom Sueea <br />The Board approved a contract with Decision Resources Ltd. to <br />conduct a comprehensive community survey. A formal report of the <br />results will be presented to the Board in its work session on June 24.
