•:iTV OF lake <br />‘.E£OLJ':cr< v:. 5-a-?c <br />WHEREAS, the Minnesota Oeoartnent of Transportation is engagec in a <br />"scooing" study to investigate various potential corridors from Trunk Highway <br />101 to Trunk Highway 25 for potential corridors to construct a four lane <br />expressway or freeway extensior to Trunk Highway 12; and <br />WHEREAS, the cities of Long Lake, Orono, Medina. Maple Plain, Independence <br />and Delano are located within the corridor study area and eacn is subject to <br />direct or indirect effects of the location of the corridor; and <br />WHEREAS, City Council of the City of Long Lake has previously resolved and <br />gone on public record that it is opposed to the location of any Highway 12 <br />extension corridor which passes through the City of Long Lake; and <br />WHEREAS, citizens of the City of Orono have organized into a special <br />Inttnst group known as “Concerned Citizens for Highway 12“ which group promotes <br />the location of such extension through the existing corridor; and <br />WHEREAS, concerned citizens and business people of the City of Long Lake <br />have begun to organize themselves into a special interest n^o^ip to promote the <br />location of such corridor outside the City of Long Lake; and <br />WHEREAS, the future of the City of Long Lake together with Its residents <br />end businesses is In severe Jeopardy from environmental and economic detriments <br />associated with such a corridor through the City of Long Lake; <br />WOU, THEREFORE, IT !S HEREBY RESOLVED: <br />That the City Council of the City of Long Lake extends Its support to the <br />newly formed special Interest group consisting of concerned Long Lake residents <br />and business people and pledges to assist in all lawful ways the effort to <br />fairly and adtguataly assess the impact of such an extension on all affected <br />minicipalltles. <br />IT IS FURTHER RESOLVED that as part and parcel of such efforts the City of <br />Long Lake will discourage In every respect the location of such a corridor within <br />the corporate limits of the City of Long Lake. <br />Ayes: Kunze, Swartwood, Rettinger.
