The plan <br />also contams a set of goals and <br />policies that are intended to guide <br />development decisions over the <br />ae.xt 10 years. .Additionally, the <br />plan forms the basis for future <br />modifications of the zoning ordi­ <br />nance. In the Twin Cities Metro­ <br />politan Area, comprehensive plans <br />were mandated by the passage of me <br />1976 Land Planning .■\ct. In re­ <br />sponse to the legisiadon. a plan <br />was prepared in the early 1960s. <br />The current comprehensive pian <br />update builds upon the earlier <br />pian. <br />In accordance with the law. <br />the .Mound Comprehensive Plan is <br />subject to the review of the .'vlecro- <br />politan Council. Their review, <br />whicln will occur after the public <br />hearing, will focus on the plan ’s <br />consistency '.vith what are called <br />metropolitan systems. Metropoli­ <br />tan systems in^ude transporta ­ <br />tion. airports, parks and open <br />space, sanitary sewer capacity and <br />solid waste. After review by the <br />Metropolitan CounciL the plan <br />r.in be formally adopted by the City <br />of Mound. <br />Copies of the plan are avail ­ <br />able for review at City Hall and at <br />the Mound Library.
