It is <br />named after member and Treasurer, <br />Grace Norris, who has been in <br />League “a million years”, as Grace <br />would say. Previous winners include <br />Grace, Louise Speck, Eydie Kargas, <br />Joy Tierney, Paula Pursley, Jenny <br />Manin, and myself. <br />Like last year, this year’s honoree <br />was also unable to be present at our <br />annual meeting to receive this <br />award. She didn’t know what she <br />was missing. This year our Grace <br />Norris Award goes to Kim <br />Koehnen. <br />of Women Voters’ Board as Vice <br />President and as Membership Chair <br />which she presently holds. During <br />the two year period without a presi­ <br />dent, Kim did an excellent job as <br />board meeting facilitator. She kept <br />our meetings on track and on time. <br />As Membership Chair, she attends <br />city events and our programs always <br />watchful for that possible new mem­ <br />ber. Kim is presently serving her <br />second term on the Plymouth Plan­ <br />ning Commission. She is also active <br />with the Minnesota Teachers Union <br />and her brass ensemble. Thank you, <br />Kim, for your dedication to the <br />League of Women Voters and the <br />conununity. It is with great honor I <br />award the eighth annual Grace Nor­ <br />ris Award to Kim Koehnen. Kim, <br />you inspire us. <br />Kim who is a 6th grade teacher at <br />Buffalo, joined our league in Febru­ <br />ary of 94. She incorporated the <br />Mirmesota State League produced <br />“We’ve Got the Power’ curriculum <br />into the 6th grade. The county’s web address <br />is www.co.hennepin.mn.us. <br />Voter Guides Forums <br />Our league has purdiased Voter <br />Guides for the Primary and General <br />Elections to be used by the Hi^ <br />School students in their classes We <br />have also ordered for the local li­ <br />braries. Target stores will also be <br />distributing Voter Guides this fall. <br />Please* take the time to thank the <br />store for their service to the commu­ <br />nity. <br />The West Metro Alliance is pro­ <br />viding a forum for the Hennepin <br />county Attorney’s seat being va­ <br />cated by Mike Freeman who is mak­ <br />ing a bid for governor. Republican <br />Sheryl Ramstad Hvass and Demo­ <br />crat Amy Klobuchar are the candi­ <br />dates. <br />member and attorney, Rachel Bardy, <br />will be moderator.
