c. Small Brush Disposal Fires. A minimum lot size of 2 acres is required for <br />small brush disposal fires. Small brush disposal means a fire set with approved <br />starter fluid no more than 8' in diameter and 4' in height using any clean wood, <br />producing minimal smoke, odor or soot beyond the property line; conducted with an <br />adult tending the fire site at all times; extinguished completely before leaving the <br />site; and respecting weather conditions, neighbors, burning bans, and air quality so <br />that nuisance, health or safety hazards will not be created. An adequate water supply <br />for fire suppression purposes must be provided. Only materials generated on site <br />may be burned. Burning of materials brought onto the property from other sites is <br />prohibited. <br />d. Lar ge Brush Disposal Fires. A minimum lot size of 5 acres is required for <br />large brush disposal fires. Large brush disposal fires means a fire set with approved <br />starter fluid no more than 15' in diameter and 6' in height using any clean wood, <br />producing minimal smoke, odor or soot beyond the property line; conducted with an <br />adult tending the fire site at all times; extinguished completely before leaving the <br />site; and respecting weather conditions, neighbors, burning bans, and air quality so <br />that nuisance, health or safety hazards will not be created. An adequate water supply <br />for fire suppression purposes must be provided. Only materials generated on site <br />may be burned. Burning of materials brought onto the propert>' from other sites is <br />prohibited. <br />e. Fire Department Training Fires. A fire used for the purpose of fire <br />department training under the conditions of a permit from the Minnesota Pollution <br />Control Agency. <br />f. Native Prairie Restoration Fires. Fires used for the purposes of Native <br />Prairie Maintenance conducted under the supervision of qualified individuals or firms <br />specializing in this type of work. <br />g. Starter Fuels. Starter Fuels means dry, untreated, unpainted kindling, <br />branches or cardboard, or charcoal fire starter. Paraffin candles and alcohols are <br />permitted as starter fuels and as aids to ignition only. Propane gas torches or other <br />clean gas burning devices causing minimal pollution must be used to start an Open <br />Bum. <br />h. Wood. Wood means dry, clean fuel only as a twigs, branches, limbs, <br />"presto logs," charcoal, cordwood or untreated dimensional lumber. "Wood" does <br />not include wood that is green, with leaves or needles, rotten, wet, oil soaked, or <br />treated with paint, glue or preservatives. Clean pallets may be used for recreational <br />fires when cut into three (3) foot lengths.
