OBERHAUSER- <br />JACK NEVEAUX- <br />*A FroftSiionti AtsodsUon <br />OBERHAUSER & NEVEAUX <br />A partnership cf professional corporations <br />AnOR.VfVS AND COVSSCIORS AT LAW <br />142) EAST VVAYZATA BOULEVARD - SUITE 210 <br />WAYZATA, MN 55391 <br />(612) 473-2521 <br />FAX (612) 473-7863 <br />BACKUP FAX (612) 473-0265 <br />January 6, 1998 <br />oTv o" <br />OPOV^ <br />MUEDiiiv.’ ; <br />CITY OF ORONO <br />Public Works Department <br />2700 Kelley Parkway <br />Orono, MN 55356 <br />Re: PUBLIC HEARING - FERNDALE NORTH IMPROVEMENT <br />JAN. 6 1998 <br />rro <br />Dear Sir or Madam: <br />I am not positive that I can attend the public hearing with <br />reference to the improvement to Ferndale North. <br />I reside at 121 Chevy Chase Drive. <br />As part of the improvement project to Ferndale North, I would like <br />to point out a very serious safety consideration with reference to <br />the intersection of Chevy Chase Drive and Ferndale North. <br />The grade on Chevy Chase Drive at the intersection with Ferndale <br />North creates a safety problem with reference to cars trying to <br />stop in the wintertime before entering onto Ferndale North because <br />if the street is at all slippery, it is almost impossible to break <br />to a stop before entering onto Ferndale North. <br />Also, it is difficult, at times, to be able to make the turn off of <br />Ferndale North onto Chevy Chase Drive with a sufficient amount of <br />speed to navigate the hill. <br />If, during the reconstruction of Ferndale North, if the grade of <br />Ferndale North at this location could be raised by three to four <br />feet, it should go along way toward alleviating this situation. <br />Another possibility would be to bring the entrance of Chevy Chase <br />Drive into Ferndale North at an angle to provide some margin of <br />safety and also to reduce the percentage grade on Chevy Chase Drive <br />by lengthening access.
