He said, ”lf that is
^be case, it would be wise to decide what that role is before an
a'^'pointment is made."
Council agreed with Callahan.
Jabbour indicated that he has no real desire to change the
role of the Planning Commission, but rather to be sure that the
meisbexs are fulfilling the responsibility they now have. In the
past years, the Planning Commission has just been a step in the
process. I think the Planning Commission members are very
capable and devoted. The Chairman has been there ten years. In
my opinion, they are not being used to their fullest potential.
Some of the members are excited and anxious to take on additional
work. I want to be sure that those who viish to do the extra work
are not being hampered by those that have no such interest."
Mayor Peterson asked that Council contact Nark prior to the
March 25, 1991 Council meeting to relay their thoughts and ideas
regarding the role of th£; Planning Commission.
Goetten suggested that the Planning Commission be asked how
they perceive their role.
Mayor Paterson asked Bernhardson to have that question
included on the Planning Commission's March 18, 1991, meeting
agenda.
- 18 -
■J
