Gerhardson, Public Works Director <br />March 20, 1991 <br />COUNCIL MEETIMGmar 2 5 19^1 <br />WIY OF ORONO <br />Subject: Public Hearing - Community Development Block Grant <br />Program Year XVII <br />On February 25, 1991 the Orono Council designated March 25, 1991 <br />as the public hearing data for Year XVll of the Community Development <br />Block Grant Program. The reason for the public hearing is to receive <br />citizen input so as to allocate the $26,175 the City of Orono will <br />receive for Year XVII of C.D.B.G. <br />The following organizations have submitted written requests to <br />support their programs and will be in attendance at the public hearing <br />to discuss their programs. <br />1.Interfaith Outreach $ 2,500 <br />2.Westonka Intervention 1,000 <br />3.Westonka Community Action <br />(Operational Support) <br />400 <br />4.Westonka Community Action <br />(Housing Plan) <br />1,200 <br />5.Housing Rehabilitations 21,075 <br />Housing Rehabilitation has been an ongoing project for several <br />years and is a direct benefit to qualifying Orono residents. <br />I have prepared a resolution for Council review and approval. <br />Recoanendation To approve Resolution _ _ _allocating the monies <br />for Year XVII of the Community Development Block Grant Program to the <br />above listed projects. <br />Proposed Notion _ _ _ Moved _ _ _ 2nd to approve Resolution <br />♦ allocating the monies for Year XVII of the Community Development <br />Block Grant Program to the above listed projects. <br />TO: Mayor Peterson & Orono Counci 1 Members <br />Mark E. Rearing Notice Dtd 2/25/91 <br />Discussion - The initial allocation published in the notice was <br />based on the understanding that social service spending was limited to <br />10% of the total. This has been changed to 15% and as such the amount <br />totals of 1-4 would qualify under that cap. <br />Alternatives <br />A. Hold Public Hearing <br />B. Continue Public Hearing <br />C.
