Notice of Retirement - Mel Kilbo 11/30/90 <br />ISSUE - Acceptance of a notice of resignation of Chief Mel Kilbo <br />effective June 30, 1991. <br />INTRODUCTION - As noted in Attachment A, Chief Kilbo has <br />indicated he intends to retire at the end of June. While such <br />advance notice is not required, his courtesy of this early notice <br />will allow the City to undertake the selection process in a <br />timely enough manner to possibly select a successor by his <br />retirement date. <br />Chief Kilbo's many years of service to the City of Orono and to <br />police work in the Metropolitan area will be recognized as the <br />date of retirement draws closer. <br />Options for a selection process will be presented to the Council <br />in January. Depending on the nature of the process selected it <br />nay take months to complete. <br />a <br />PROPOSED MOTICK - Moved by»^, seconded by , the Orono City <br />Council accepts the retirement notice of Chief Melvin Kilbo, as <br />an enployee in good standing, effective June 30, 1991 and directs <br />staff to prepare the recognition jf his many years of hardwotk <br />^d dedication to police work as his retirement approaches.
