F <br />t <br />I <br />k: <br />f- <br />i;.. <br />(6) shorelands that are managed under other water <br />and related land resource management programs authorized by <br />state or federal legislation with goals compatible with <br />Minnesota Statutes# section 105.485, and parts 6i20.2500 to <br />6120.3900; o. <br />(7) individual lakes or systems of lakes that are <br />being managed under standards developed specifically for these <br />vf3rer resources after a comprehensive study and planning effort. <br />B. Alternative management standards may use the <br />following concepts and approaches, or others: <br />(1) expanded or different public waters <br />classification systems; <br />(2) designation of areas where land use districts <br />and associated standards are more restrictive than these <br />standards i'.:’ criteria as trade-offs for other areas where they <br />are less restrictive; <br />(3) standards and other management approaches <br />that are developed for specific water resources after a <br />comprehensive evaluation and planning effort; <br />(4) standards developed to take in-account <br />commonly occurring hydrologic, geologic, propert. '.iiership,^ <br />topographic, and vegetation patterns and shorelc*r.u accessibixity <br />issues that would make use of these standards and criteria <br />impractical; or <br />; (5) Other types of management or acquisition <br />programs such as stormwater management and public land <br />acquisition programs that reduce the need for use of specific <br />standards in parts 6120*2500 to 6120.3900. <br />C. Local governments must request consideration of an <br />3Xternative approach under this subpart and must provide written <br />justification and supporting information, maps, and documents, <br />as appropriate, to justify the request to the commissioner, <br />including the following: <br />(1) existing land use plans and controls for <br />shorelands of each public water; <br />(2) for the shorelands of each public water, the <br />number, average size, and percent of shoreline occupied by <br />undeveloped lots of record and land in public ownership; <br />(3) characteristics of existing development, <br />including types, densities, heights, colors, and presence or <br />absence of screening vegetation or topography; <br />(4) presence or absence of public sewer and <br />A-1.8 <br />I. <br />^ 4^ .. .
