r
I
f
W
POSITON PAPF.R
Subject:Parking
Point:Ratio to Square Footage of Building
The proposed parking for this supermarket is adequate. At Super Valu we are
very careful with our parking ratios and their impact on business. Ratios can
be manipulatcj by size of drives, size of stalls, how the retail space is
Measured, etc. At Rick's Super Valu, we have designed and are proposing total
parking of 110 parking stalls. On our design, we have 9 foot wide stalls and
22 to 30 foot drive aisles, which provides for very free and easy movement of
vehicles. Prior to the county condemnation to improve the intersection of 15
and 19. we had a total of 122 parking stalls. Due to the condemna^ 'n and
expansion, vm have only lost a total of twelve parking spaces. Th>, parking
lot has never been filled and has provided the customers adequate park'ng.
With the building addition and some extra business, the parking will still be
adequate with 110 places.
It Is my understanding the City of Orono uses r:cchod "C" on the attachmeU
which requires 127 parking stalls. We are able to provide 110 spaces. A
variance of 17 parking spaces does not impact our business or the citizens of
Orono.
Please see attachment and drawing.
IftSf
