I <br />feel this is a very important community job that has CTeat potential to positively <br />impact Orono for years to come. I would appreciate the opportunity to he a member <br />of such a committee. <br />For a number of years I have used Orono parks and have been concerned about such <br />things as equipment, usage and availability to the community. I believe that parks <br />need to take into accoimt the needs of all citizens, young ^d old. Bike and walking <br />trails, ui _ <br />current areas of interest. <br />I believe the Park Commission needs to continue its important job of being proactive <br />in its planning process as it assists the Coimdl community in maintaining and <br />securing open spaces and park development. This is of utmost importance with the <br />impending push for development of Orono with the completion of 394. <br />I feel I would bring to the Park Commission: attention to detail while keeping the <br />bigger picture in mind, stick-to-it-ness and a “can do” attitude with a personal <br />commitment to plan for the future, and energy to work for the good of the <br />community. <br />As the founder and President of a non-profit organization, the Pregnancy and Infant <br />Loss Center, I have worked with others to turn dreams into reality providing a <br />service to the population we serve. After having had a child dio in 1981,1 took this <br />personal hardship and turned it into something positive, working for t^e good of <br />others. Eight years since it’s inception, my dream, our national organization, is a <br />highly respected leader in the field. TUs ability to turn a difficult situation into <br />something positive while working with many kinds of people is a valuable asset I <br />would like to share. <br />In addition, as a consultant to businesses in the area of team-building and <br />I feel I would be able to contribute those skills and a team attitude <br />in working with the city staff and coimdl. <br />I have included my resume.
