�-o�o <br /> C ITY OF ORONO <br /> RESOLUTION OF THE CIT'Y COUNCIL <br /> � � <br /> �'Iq �F,G~ N�. � 4 � 2 <br /> '�ESH� <br /> A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING CREATION OF <br /> A HIGHWAY 12 SAFETY COALITION <br /> WHEREAS, Hennepin and Wright County communities and their representatives along <br /> Highway 12 desire to work collaboratively with the Minnesota Department of Transportation <br /> (MnDOT)to improve the safety of the Highway 12 corridor; and, <br /> WHEREAS, Highway 12 is regionally significant, providing a necessary transportation <br /> corridor between the Metropolitan Area and residents and businesses in western Hennepin and <br /> Wright Counties; and, <br /> WHEREAS, in recent years, communities in the area have worked on various efforts <br /> with a similar end goal, and now the communities are wishing to continue their efforts in a <br /> collective manner; and, <br /> WHEREAS, in Summer of 20]4, two meetings were held with relevant stakeholders to <br /> discuss both short term and long term solutions that can be worked towards to increase the safety <br /> of the Highway; and, <br /> WHEREAS, a formal coalition of cities and their selected representatives can serve as a <br /> means to working with community groups and different levels of government on the safety of <br /> Highway 12. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE DELANO CITY COUNCIL, <br /> that Delano hereby join the Highway 12 Safety Coalition and accept its bylaws in order to: <br /> 1. Work collaboratively with other communities, MnDOT, local elected representatives, and <br /> county governments. <br /> 2. Identify any combination of issues related to improving the safety of transportation on <br /> Highway 12. <br /> 3. Seek out and implement solutions to increase driver safety on Highway 12 in order to <br /> ensure that all residents can continue to have a high quality of life within the <br /> communities along the highway. <br /> 4.
