Heart start approx. ^ of dept, still needs to be certified. Procedur*- is normally to wait until North is putting on another free course with
a different dept that has just purchased one and to sit in on that
class. We would rather not wait. Shannon to- check with instructor#
Dan Schawbe to find out how much it would cost for him to come out.
Hopefully we can schedule for a Monday night.
Cost to purchase our own test module for Heart start is $600.00.
Mike Brown to check .with Orono Lions to see what they would be willing
to contribute.
NEW BUSINESS
New officers rank as follows:
Chief*- Rick Perry
Ass(-. Chief - Mike Brown
Captain - Kelly Shaughnessy
1st Lt. - Jim Cox
2nd Lt. - Steve Becker
3rd. Lt - Buf’ch Loomis
Medical officer - Shannon Madden
Chief Perry will attent one Orono council meeting per month. It is our
hope that they can place him on the agenda as close as possible to
start of the meeting. This will accommodate the fact that Monday
night is also our training night and his presence here is also of great
importance.
Secretary to post from May '92 officer meeting requirements with regard
to pay while attending outside school^.
Copies of newly revised job descriptions for all officers and fire
fighters given to each officer for review. Following suggestions were
made by Mayor Swartwood.
That all wording with relatitasrtohip to gender be removed.
It was noted that majority of wording was taken from 1992 NFPA standard
and fire service evidently still considers he or his to include both
genders. Point made that sooner or later this will probably change so
we might as well change it now. Request that all members are given a
new copy of job descriptions and sign a form stating they received them
Other suggestion made was that medical officer's duties include keeping
records and notifying f’ose members who are in need of updating their
physicals.
By laws committee to meet shortly to update and revise by laws.
One of 3rd Lt, jobs is that of training officer* starting at the 1st
of the year. Butch Loomis would like to implement a new training
schedule. Training night would go on the following rotation - one squac
medical - one squad - training. One squad upkeep and maintenance.
One squad would have the night off. There are usually 32 to 34
training nights per year. We will still have a number of training
nights where all members will need to be present# such as house burns#
1st responder refresher# CPR recertification and when outside instructor
are brought in. This could be 4 to 12 Mondays a year. Therefore the
3 Mondays and one Monday off will probably work out to be between
5 and 8 rotations. In order for this to be successful# all members
will have to be accountable for every meeting. If you have to miss
one of your scheduled nights you need to make it up on one of your
off nights. Also instructing of class will be delegated to every
squad member sometime during the year. If you choose to instruct in
pairs this means probably one class a rotation. If you solo probably
