Date: April 22, 2024 Item: 5 <br />Presenter: Natalie Nye, Planner <br />Section: Consent Agenda <br /> <br />Title: #LA24-000010, Westwood Professional Services o/b/o Wayzata Country <br />Club, 200 Wayzata Boulevard West, Interim Use Permit (IUP)-Resolution 7471 <br /> <br /> <br />1.Purpose: <br />This application is regarding an Interim Use Permit (IUP) for the purpose of a renovation of the <br />golf course at the Wayzata Country Club. <br />2.MN§15.99 Application Deadline: <br />The application was received on February 21, 2024 and considered to be complete of February 28, <br />2024. Therefore, the 60-Day review period expires on April 28, 2024. <br />3.Background: <br />The Wayzata Country Club is requesting approvals in order to renovate their existing golf course. <br />The renovations will include substantial grading, landscaping, irrigation, drainage, and modified <br />cart paths. The project is anticipated to begin in September of 2024 and be completed by <br />September 2025. Due to the substantial grading work proposed, an Interim Use Permit (IUP) is <br />required. An IUP is triggered when over 20,000 square feet of area is disturbed. This project will <br />disturb approximately 42.9 acres. <br /> <br />The subject property is located within the RR-1B Zoning District and is currently operating under <br />a Conditional Use Permit (CUP). The Wayzata Country Club is located partially in Orono and <br />Wayzata. Approximately 150 acres and the majority of the golf course is located in Orono. The <br />applicant has initiated permitting processes in both Wayzata and with the Minnehaha Creek <br />Watershed. <br />4.Planning Commission Vote and Comment: <br />The Planning Commission held a Public Hearing on April 15, 2024. The Planning Commission <br />discussed the application and determined that it met all necessary standards. One neighboring <br />property owner spoke at the meeting requesting clarity on the project. The Planning Commission <br />voted 5 to 0 to approve the application as applied. Commissioners Kirchner and Schultze abstained <br />from the vote due to membership at the Wayzata Country Club. <br /> <br />The link to the April 15, 2024 Planning Commission meeting can be found here. <br />5.Public Comment: <br />Staff has not received any written public comments regarding the application.
