Date: April 22, 2024 Item: 12 <br />Presenter: DJ Goman, Public Works Superintendent <br />Section: Consent Agenda <br /> <br />Title: Public Works maintenance worker resignation and recruitment of a full time public <br />works maintenance worker. <br /> <br /> <br />1.Purpose: <br />The purpose of the action item is to accept the resignation of Public Works Maintenance Employee <br />Brandon Maurer and inform council of the recruitment process to fill the vacancy created. <br />2.Background: <br />A. Brandon Maurer was hired in November of 2017 . He has submitted a letter of resignation. <br />Brandon's last day is April 19th, The Public Works Department wishes Brandon Maurer the <br />best of luck in all of his future endeavors and for his service to the City of Orono. <br />B. The Public Works Department currently has 5 full time as maintenance worker positions <br />with one opening. The maintenance worker positions are critical to meet current service <br />needs and are essential to City operations. <br />3.Recruitment: <br />The selection process for the position involves advertising the position, application screening, <br />interviews by public works supervisor, maintenance worker staff and practical exercise testing. <br />The process also included a background check. <br />AGENDA ITEM <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED <br />Motion to accept the resignation of Brandon Maurer effective April 19th, 2024. <br />147
