This warmin radiates at the Tamarack
Sonior Center every day we are open.
Receptionists, servers, the clean-up crew, hosts
and hostesses, drivers, advisory board and our
crafters bring the center to life and create an
inviting place to meet old friends and to make
new friends.
Thanks to all these people wn.o volunteer. The
Center provides programs, meals, education,
exercise and friendship throuphout the year. It
could not be accomplished without our
volunteers. Pat yourselves on the back!!
HOW DO WE GET
FROM HERE TO THERE?
Van service makes the Tamarack Senior Center
accessible to people who live in Long Lake.
Medina, Orono, Wayzata and the southwest
corner of Plymouth. The van picks up
passengers at their homes. Riders contribute
towards the service. The 12-passenger van is
equipped with a wheelchair lift. Besides rides
to the center, the transportation program also
provides rides for shopping and appointments
on Monday afternoons. Drivers of the van must
take D passenger assistance course, pass a
physical, fiave an excellent driving record, and
take a test to become certified/
WHY? ASK WHY?
What difference does the Tamarack Senior
Center make?
In a recent Ann Landers column, she said the
ultimate poverty is loneliness. The Tamarack
Senior Center provides a place where people
can get together to learn, laugh, talk, share
ideas, play games, eat with others, and have
fun.
How do we serve the community?
The Tamarack Senior Center is a starting point
for services for the elderly. The older
population is the fastest growing segment in
Hennepin County. With this growing number
of older adults in the community, the
iinpc.1c.nce of the Tamarack Senior Center
increases each year.
UPCOMING EVENTS
Watch for these planneu events at the
Tamarack Senior Center:
BLOOD PRESSURE SCREENINGS ■ Nov. 3
and Dec. 1 at 12:30 p.m.
FLU IMMUNIZATIONS & HEARING
SCREENINGS - Oct. 27
55ALIVE MATURE DRIVING COURSE - Nov.
17 and 24
THANKSGIVING & CHRISTMAS Parties Nov.
24 and Dec. 22.
TAMARACK SENIOR CENTER
133 SOUTH BROWN ROAD
LONG LAKE.
