MINUTES OF THE REGULAR ORONO COUNCIL MEETING <br />HELD AUGUST 10. 1992 <br />LEAF STREET - CONT. <br />Jabbour statad that tha City is trying to find tha bast way to fund <br />tha ro<id apiacamant. <br />Qoattan ciarifiad that not ail strsats can ba upgradad with MSA <br />funds. <br />Cook notad tha City has a schadula of projacts and it is datarminad <br />by tha Public Works Oapartmant as -to how thay would Mka to <br />maintain thosa strac*^s. <br />Minkama askad if at soma point in tha futura Laaf Straat would naad <br />to ba upgradad to a standard width. <br />Callahan notad that Laaf Straat would naad to ba upgradad in dua <br />course, however, there is not a rigid date for that upgrade. <br />Jabbour askad if tha City allows tha straat to ba reconstructed at <br />a sutstandard design, if they are in any way liable for potential <br />accidents caused by tha substandard design. <br />Staunton statad tha daUsior fc ' tha City to allow tha straat to <br />ba upgradad under variat ca approval is strictly a City policy. Ha <br />said the City is entitled to variance approval Just as anyone alsa <br />is entitled, as long as it can prove a hardship. <br />Jabbour fait they should not ignore tha process <br />Mfnkama askad at what point she would know if tha hedge along her <br />property would ba raaioval. <br />Cook said ha has racommandad that tha hedge ba placed further back <br />because it is too close to tha road in its present position. <br />Qarhardson notad that they are using trench boxes where aver <br />necessary to save existing vegetation. <br />Callahan cl-rifled that tha hedge on tha Minkama property will not <br />ba affected In any different or greater degree than by tha sewer <br />instaiI at ion. <br />Cook notad tha haoga will not ba destroyed if moved back, which is <br />what ha is proposing In either prop^aal.
