Gerhardson, Public Works Director <br />August 21, 1992 <br />nnotlO JO AUO <br />2661 ^ 2 9nV <br />0iMIi23i/U lIC^NnOO <br />Snbjoctt Leaf Street Reconstruction to Municipal State Aid <br />Standards (MSA) <br />On August 10, 1992 Council conducted a public information <br />meeting to consider upgrading Leaf Street to MSA standards <br />following the construction of sanitary sewer. <br />The concern of the residents on Leaf Street was the tree and <br />vegetation reamval as well as losing the rural character of the <br />road by widening and installing concrete curb, gutter and storm <br />sewer. <br />It was indicated to residents and Council that the sanitary <br />construction «rould require r«K>vaI of trees and vegetation <br />worm so than widening the road to 28 feet. <br />The construction of sewer on Leaf Street has begun and we <br />have been very fortunate that considerably fewer trees and shrubs <br />have had to be removed than expected. In fact, in that section <br />as conditions are today, we would have to remove more trees and <br />shrubs for street construction than the sewer construction. <br />However, it is staff's opinion that the road should still be <br />constructed to MSA standards for the following reasons! <br />1. <br />2. <br />3. <br />4. <br />Cost savings to all City property owners. <br />Correct and improve several drainage probloM. <br />Safer road. <br />Any trees that must be removed can be replaced two for <br />one. <br />5."Clean up* several site distance problems.
