Exempt personnel. <br />All authorized resource management, emergency and enforcement personnel, while acting <br />in the performance of their assigned duties, are exempt from restrictions of this article. <br />(Ord. Enforcement. <br />The enforcement of this article shall be the primary responsibility of the peace officers of <br />the county sheriff's department or the Orono Police Department. Other licensed peace officers, <br />including conservation officers of the state department of natural resources and volunteer <br />members of the county water patrol, are also authorized to enforce this article. <br />(Ord. No. 201 3rd series, § 2, 11-13-2017) <br />Sec. 94-140. Penalties. <br />Any person who shall violate any of the provisions of this article shall be guilty of a <br />misdemeanor. <br />(Ord. No. 201 3rd series, § 2, 11-13-2017) <br />Secs. 94-141. Long Lake; special provisions. <br />(a) Intent and purpose. It is the purpose of this section to regulate the operation and speed of <br />watercraft on Long Lake. <br />(b) Regulation. No person shall operate a watercraft at greater than slow-no wake speed on <br />Long Lake whenever the water level exceeds 945.25 feet. The slow-no wake restriction <br />shall remain in place until the lake level drops to 945.25 feet or below. <br />(c) Exemptions. Authorized resource management, emergency and enforcement personnel, <br />when acting in the performance of their duties, shall be exempt from the provisions of this <br />ordinance. <br />(d) Marking and posting of signs. The city staff of Long Lake and Orono shall be responsible <br />for informing the public, posting notification at all public accesses, and marking or buoying <br />areas affected by this ordinance as necessary to give reasonable notice of the speed <br />restriction of this section. <br />(e) Enforcement. Primary responsibility for the enforcement of this ordinance shall rest with the <br />Hennepin County Sheriff's Department, including both licensed and special deputies. This, <br />however, shall not preclude its enforcement by other licensed peace officers. <br />(f) Violation and penalty. Any person who shall violate any of the provisions of this ordinance <br />shall be guilty of a misdemeanor. <br />98
