Minutes <br />City Council Regular Meeting <br />Monday, March 11, 2024, 6:00 PM <br />City Council Chambers 2780 Kelley Parkway, Orono, MN 55356 <br />Page 2 of 4 <br />14.Minnehaha Creek Watershed District Presentation –Resolution 7453 <br />James Wisker, district administrator of the Minnehaha Creek Watershed District,reported on the <br />Watershed District and its activities and asked for support of the Long Lake Creek Watershed partnership <br />management project. <br />Veach moved, Johnson seconded, to adopt a resolution of support for the County Road 6 Pond <br />Retrofit Project. VOTE: Ayes 4, Nays 0. <br />COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT REPORT <br />12.Pickleball Project Grant Application –Resolution 7459 <br />Park Director Lemons presented information on the Pickleball Project Grant application and asked for <br />approval to submit a grant application by April 1. <br />Veach moved, Johnson seconded, to adopt a resolution authorizing staff to submit a Pickleball <br />Project Grant application.VOTE: Ayes 4, Nays 0. <br />15.LA23-000062, Peter Eskuche, 4423 North Shore Drive, Variances, Resolution 7452 <br />The City Council is requested to review the Staff report, receive a presentation, and discuss,and if <br />satisfied with the proposed modifications from the two previous City Council reviews of this variance <br />request, to adopt Resolution 7452 for variances for LA23-000062. <br />The Council discussed the item and asked questions of staff and the applicant, Peter Eskuche of Eskuche <br />Designs. <br />Johnson moved, Veach seconded, to adopt Resolution 7452 for variances for LA23-000062 as <br />modified from the original plan. VOTE: Ayes 3, Nays 1 (Benson). <br />16.LA24-000003, Brett Larson, 2480 Carman Street, Sketch Plan <br />The City Council is requested to review the Staff report, receive a presentation, and discuss and provide <br />feedback on the proposed sketch plan. <br />The Council discussed the item and asked questions of staff and the applicant, Brett Larson, 2480 Carman <br />Street, Orono. <br />Guidance from City Council members was that they would not be in favor of rezoning the property to <br />allow for higher density. <br />Community Development Director Oakden presented a report on building permit revenues indicating <br />winter is the slowest time of year for building permits. <br />PUBLIC SAFETY REPORT <br />7
