Please call us at 472- <br />0742 to let us know if you will be attending. We want to make <br />sure we acknowledge your special contributions to WeCAN too. <br />WeCAN President Margaret Holste will award certificates to the <br />volunteers arid present tiie WeCAN Maurice Trask v^olunteer of <br />the Year Award to the 1992 recipient. Refreshments will be <br />served at 2 p.m., with the awards ceremony at 2:30 p.m. <br />WeCAN's Volunteer of the Year Aw.ird is named after Maurice <br />Trask, a member of Bethel Methodist Ch'.jrch who had a long time <br />history of concern and caring for the poor' and disadvantaged. <br />After his de^th, his widow Li Ilian Trask established the <br />Maurice Trask I'eraorial through Bethel United Methodist Church <br />to honor her husband’s memory. The Trask *'lemorial makes <br />regular contributi'»ns to WeCAN. <br />WeCAN has over 100 volunt-rers working in a variety of <br />programs. Volunteers establish policy and guide the <br />organization as WeCAN boardmembers ana committee members. <br />Volunteers interview applicants for WeCAN s Emergency <br />Assistance Program and the Energy Assxstance Program. <br />Volunteers deliver hot, nutritious meals to the homebound as <br />part of WeCAN's Meals-On-Wheels. Volunteers participate in <br />WeCAN’s Food and Nutrition classes, an ntcr-generational <br />learning program. Volunteers help WeCAN’s office run smoothly <br />by helping with child care, filing, reception and phone work. <br />WeCAN’s office provides space for Pyramid Mental Health Center <br />and Relate Counseling Center’s count-ling for families and <br />individuals, budget counselors from Minnesota Financial <br />Counseling Service, and intake workers from Hennepin County <br />Economic Assistance. <br />. -j <br />Sincerely, <br />Kiki Sonnen
