Minnesota 55101 <br />612 222-8423 <br />March 30,1992 <br />1 <br />1 _ ^ ^ \«- <br />w <br />INFORMATION BULLETIN FROM THE MWCC APR <br />OFRCE OF GOVERNMENTAL RELATIONS <br />1 1992 <br />We want to alert you to provisions now being debated in the Legislature that could <br />hewe serious ramifications for the M.9tropolitan Waste Central Commission's <br />ratepayers. <br />Provisions In the Omnibus Tax BUI (HF 2940 and SF 2755) would eliminate the sales <br />tax*exempt status tor political subdvisions, including the MWCC. If the bill becomes <br />law, the Commission's annual operating budget will increase by about $2.3 million, <br />and the Commission's annual capital development budget will increase by about $1.2 <br />mUiion » a total of about $3.5 million per year. <br />Tha Commission is a fee-for-servlce agency; therefore, any increase in our expenses <br />would necessarfty be assessed to our ratepayers. <br />Both HF ^940 and SF 2755 were considered and passed out of committees last week <br />and will rK>w be debated by the House and Senate within the next few days. <br />If you have any questions, please call the Office of Government Relations at 229 <br />2153. <br />•* :'r- <br />Equal Opponun'ty/Affirmalive Action Employer <br />Cf <br />i
