He also explained that Channel 6 received no <br />funding from the state or counties and are dependent upon distribu <br />tion fees. Oyaas said that the signal for Channel 6 is carried by <br />Midwest Cable and Satellite and he knew the reception in some areas <br />was not the best and asked for input on improving it. Daniels stated <br />it Is technically unacceptable when Channel 6 comas Uiicugn at all. <br />Daniels also felt that it should be defined as to whose problem it <br />is. Wllczek stated he supports the concept of Channel 6 but not the <br />problems it incurs and that the quality in this area is sporadic at <br />best. Oyaas promised to make this a priority and to try to fix it. <br />Daniels then offered to meet and work with Oyaas and Nazarow to find <br />a solution. Brancel reiterated the Commission's willingness to <br />cooperate. Nazarow offered the possible solution of licensing so <br />that Triax could retransmit the signal. Daniels stated that the <br />video Itself has a pronounced effect on the reception. Brancel then <br />requested Daniels, Nazarow and Oyaas to work together to get the <br />problems resolved. <br />b) Renewal of Channel 6 Fees <br />Brancel requested that the renewal of Channel 6 fees of <br />.10/subscriber, approximately $600, be tabled to the April meeting. <br />Pattrin reminded Commission that technical problems are Triax's con <br />cern. Daniels agreed but thinks that Commission has an obligation as <br />well to be involved with decisions. <br />Motion 2.18.92.4; Wilczek motioned to table to the April meeting <br />with the direction to Daniels and Nazarow to make progress repor'^ v <br />the March meeting. Thies seconded. Motion passed unanimously. <br />c) Triax Report on Fifteen System Extensions for 1992 <br />Nazarow explained that the extension activities were postponed <br />due to the October 31st blizzard. He distributed the list of exten <br />sions that will happen (see attached). <br />d,e) Triax Sample of Customer Billing "Stuffer" and Triax <br />Latest Marketing Effort <br />Both of these items were discussed in Triax's report. <br />Plan <br />f) Quarterly Newsletter Report <br />Daniels distributed a rough draft of a newsletter. He ex <br />plained the costs of printing 1000 copies would bo under $150, in <br />cluding photo sizing and placement. The only question remaining is <br />the distribution. One possibility is with muriicipalities and with <br />newspapers as an insert. This way it can be sent out into a targeted <br />area. Brancel commented that the draft looked professional and she <br />liked the layout. Hirsch asked what the contents would be and if it <br />would be upcoming events or past-tense news. Daniels said both is <br />feasible. Schmieg asked who would be targeted, cable subscribers or <br />non-cable subscribers. Daniels was not sure of distribution so, <br />therefore, areas are harder to target. Wilczek stated that it should <br />be aimed at the non-subscribers so they will get cable and see cable <br />access channels. Wilczek reiterated the need to get the community
