CITY OF ORONO <br />RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />NO. 7458 <br />A RESOLUTION REGARDING THE NAVARRE FIRE STATION SITE <br />WHEREAS, the city of Orono (“Orono”) owns the property where Fire Station 2 is located at <br />3770 Shoreline Drive in Orono; <br />WHEREAS,Orono has made the decision to establish its own fire department and move <br />forward with a phased approach to the establishment of the Orono Fire Department beginning in <br />July of 2024; <br />WHEREAS,the Navarre Fire Station (Station 2) was built for the sole purpose to service the <br />citizens of Orono and the Station 2 call area; <br />WHEREAS,Orono and Long Lake have been unable to negotiate a reasonable transition of <br />Station 2 before the end of the fire services contract; <br />WHEREAS, Orono explored options for an accessory structure on its property, including the <br />engagement of an architect to prepare plans to ensure there was no hindrance of the operations of <br />Station 2; <br />WHEREAS,pursuant to an advertisement for bids for the new Public Works facility project <br />bids were received, opened and tabulated according to State law, and the following bids were <br />received complying with the advertisement: <br />Contractor Base Bid Unit Price per CUY <br />Project 1 Construction $ 1,257,000 $ 40.00 <br />Terra General Contractors $ 1,354,400 $ 42.00 <br />Versacon Inc.$ 1,265,000 $ 24.75 <br />Rochon Corporation $ 1,147,000 $ 38.00 <br />Met-Con Construction, Inc.$ 1,377,000 $ 14.00 <br />Nor-Son Construction, LLC $ 1,194,233 $ 20.50 <br />Morcon Construction CO., Inc.$ 1,254,000 $ 20.00 <br />American Liberty Construction, Inc. $ 1,184,900 $ 21.00 <br />Ebert $ 1,147,000 $ 22.50 <br />Dering Peirson Group $ 1,194,000 $ 9.85 <br />WHEREAS, all of the bids were well above the project Opinion of Probable Cost, $750,000; <br />and; <br />247
