CITY OF ORONO <br />RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />NO. 7453 <br />included in the MCWD’s Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) and budget to reduce nutrient loading <br />to Long Lake; and <br />WHEREAS,the MCWD commissioned a feasibility study, completed in September 2023, that <br />has identified the addition of a gravity sand filter bench that is estimated to remove 67 pounds of <br />phosphorus annually, in a cost-effective manner; and <br />WHEREAS, at the March 11, 2024 Council Meeting, the MCWD presented an overview of the <br />partnership history, Roadmap, and proposed Project; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council hereby accepts the Long Lake <br />Creek Roadmap and supports the ongoing partnership with the MCWD and cities of Medina and <br />Long Lake to advance efforts to improve water quality in the Long Lake Subwatershed; and <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council supports MCWD’s plans to implement <br />the County Road 6 Pond Retrofit project. <br />Adopted by the City Council of the City of Orono, Minnesota at a regular meeting held on March <br />11, 2024. <br />ATTEST: <br />_____________________________________________________________________ <br />Christine Lusian, City Clerk Dennis Walsh, Mayor <br />155
