Advance Questions and responses for the Long Lake Fire Department Annual
update are below. As of March 7th 2024
1.What are service time goals for Station 1 , Station 2 and Duty Crews?
Our goal is to get a crew of two in service witthin 2 minutes but with larger incidents, we may
wait a bit for more POC responders to arrive.
2.The update on duty crew is helpful - can you explain how total shifts available
calculations work each month?
Count how many calendar days (M-Sat) there are in a month and multiply by eight shifts.
3.How many station 1 calls vs station 2 calls - what % of station 2 calls has a station 1
truck on scene first?
That data would be hard to actually pull together. During the week day from 6am-6pm, any call
is an all call. After 6pm and on the weekends it goes to regular station paging. There are
software programs out there that could pull the data if we had it from the start but they tend to
get expensive fast.
4.How does staffing at station 1 compare to station 2?
There are 31 at Station 1 and 11 firefighters at Station 2. There are 2 new hires in class for
Station 1 and 2 potential new hires interviewing for Station 2.
5.What are you most proud of from your last year?
Being new to the City, I was able to stay within the budget that was set for me. We were able to
update the fleet along with adding mobile and portable radios. On top of that, I am proud of the
firefighters that have been able to continue to do their work and stay focused serving all of the
member cities.
6.How can we best support you this upcoming year?
Remember that the LLFD continues to provide service to the City of Orono and the firefighters are part
of the community. The LLFD does not want to be part of the politics.
118
